Italian Campaign (Green)

1792

There were many conflicts fought during the French Revolutionary War. This is green because it helped France break free from its dictatorship.

Egyptian Campaign (Red)

1798

During the Egyptian Campaign Napoleon went to Egypt hoping to disrupt The British’s trade with India. Instead it back fired and he lost badly. This was bad for his reputation so that’s why it’s red.

Banque de France (Green)

1800

Napoleon gave the bankers a French finance by giving them control of the new Bank of France. This is green because it restored confidence in France’s banking system.

Concordat of 1801 (Green)

The Concordat of 1801 was the Catholic Church being kept under control by the state and gaining religious freedom for Catholics . Essentially this is green since a lot of people in France were Catholic so Napoleon got praised for their religious freedom.

Consul for life (Green)

The government offered a life long job. This is green because it meant Napoleon was one step closer to the throne.

Napoleonic code (Yellow)

The Napoleonic Code was for men to have more power over their families which took away a lot of rights from women and illegal children. Although this code gave the French set and stone laws, it also took away rights from others so therefore its yellow.

Declared Self Emperor (Green)

Napoleon did not let the Pope place the crown on his head, in fact he put the own crown on his head. Although this is rude, this is green because it shows that he can take control as a leader.

Battle of Trafalgar (Green)

The battle of Trafalgar took place in the Southwest Coast of Spain. This war was fought during The War of the Third Coalition. This is green since the French won.

Continental system (Yellow)

The Continental system was Napoleon trying to weaken British’s economy by banning trade between The British and anywhere else that is involved with France. This was yellow because it was a good idea but it failed since Napoleon didn’t have control over the seas so British ships smuggled goods into Europe.

Abolished Holy Roman Empire (Green)

1806

After Napoleon abolished The Holy Roman Empire he created a 38 member Confederation of the Rhine under France protection . This was good because he gained control of another part in Europe.

Resistance in Spain (RED)

1812

Napoleon set out with a large army to invade Russia. But with the resistance of the people of Spain war efforts began from Austria, Russia and Prussia against Napoleon. This is red because Napoleons invasion back fired .

Invasion of Russia (Red)

The French invaded Russia but Russia was already unhappy with their economic effects of the Continental System . This is red because Russia retreated and burned land behind them effecting France army.

Battle of Nations at Leipzig (Red)

During The Battle of Nations at Leipzig Russia , Britain , Austria, and Prussia formed an alliance against France. This was red because France was defeated.

Abdication (Yellow)

1814

Napoleon stepped down from being in power and was sent to Elba. This is yellow because the people were happy since Napoleon hadn’t been doing good .

Hundred Days (Red)

1815

Napoleon’s army had fought for 100 days then they were defeated at Waterloo. This was red because Napoleon lost.

Waterloo (Red)

Napoleon was defeated by the British and Prussians, which made it the end of his reign and the end of France winning in Europe. This is red since Napoleon’s army lost.

Consulate (Green)

The consulate was the top level of government in France. It was three men who overthrew the Directory. This was green because it showed how good and powerful France’s leaders are.
