The continental system was the blockage of English ports. This means that the allies of France could not trade with Engalnd. The continental system was designed to hurt only England, but ended up hurting other countries becuase they could not obtain Englland's resources. -

The Peninsular War was caused by Napolean's wish to extend the Continental System throughout Europe. The war started on Feburary 16, 1808, and lasted until April 1814. -

Invasion of Russia
The Invasion of Russia began when Napoleon's army crossed the Nerman River, hoping to defeat the Russians. Napoleon was very mad at Alexander I for withdrawing his support for the Continental System. With the Continental System, Russia was not able to get any of the resources they needed from England, so it was only causing harm to Russia. -
Retreat from Moscow
On October 9, 1812, Napolean and his troops began their retreat from Moscow. The harsh winters and lack of food caused the great army to shrink immensely. -

The Battle of Leipzig, also called the Battle of the Nations, was fought on October 16-19, 1813 between the coalition armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria and Sweden against the French army. -
Exile to Elba
On May 4, 1814, Napoleon begins his exile to Elba. He was allowed to bring a gaurd of 600 men. -

Battle of Waterloo
On Saturday, June 18, 1815, Napoleon was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo by the British and Prussians. The Battle of Waterloo took place in Belgium and marked the final defeat of Napoleon. -
Exile to St. Helena
On October 16, 1815, Napoleon was exiled to St. Helena, a remote island in the South Atlantic Ocean. An escape from St. Helena would be impossible. -
Death
On May 5, 1821, Napoleon Boneparte died at St. Helena.
