Mansa Musa was a legendary king who made a spectacular hajj to Mecca. He had an entourage of 60,000 people including 12,000 slaves. He was like an inspiration to the Portuguese, to go to Africa and come back wealthy. -

Provided a permanent line of demarcation 370 leagues west of the Cape Verde islands off the Atlantic coast of Africa. Treaty of Zaragoza was singed in 1529, set bounds for each country in the Indian Ocean and Pacific regions. -
