The archduke and his wife had traveled to Sarajevo to inspect armed forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A young group of Armed Serbian Nationalists(all believed the territories should be part of Serbia) made a plan to kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand. They followed through with the plan and the archduke as well as his wife were assassinated.
