While you used to have to pay per message, texting has become so popular now that there are unlimited plans. Texting is the #1 way of communication in todays society. -

DVD's were a new way to view movies, store software, music, and many other things. Most DVD's were used for movies and recordings. Since its origination our society has outgrown regular DVD's and has upgraded to Blu-Ray and streaming services. -

Google had originally begun as a PhD research project when the inventors first started working on it. Google was the first internet search engine to use backlinks making it the most popular of them all. Google now has enhanced everyones lives today, because of Google we are able to book flights, find answers to questions, search music and an infinite amount of things. -
MP3 - 1998

Before the MP3 the only small portable device was a cassette player and walkman. You were only able to use these devices with a cassette and CD. A few years later apple released the iPod. These devices opened our mind to the possibilities that could be done with music, we can now stream music from our phones and other devices due to these creations.
