    Prohibition Begins
    Prohibiton begins because women and men (mostly women) believed alcohol is the source of power in the USA. This prohibits the manufacturing, sale, and consuption of liquor.
  • Women's Suffrage

    Women are given the right to vote when the 19th Amendment was granted. The start to making the "playing field" more even.
  • German Reparations

    Germany, burdened by reparations payments imposed by Treaty of Versailles, suffers hyperinflation. One American dollar is now worth 7,000 German marks.
  • Immigration Act

    Immigration Act
    Limited the amount of people immigrating to the United States from Southern and Eastern Europe. Both political parties agreed to this which made this easily pass congress. This act remained until 1965. (Important because some of us have immigrant parents and/or grandparents).

    Most disasterous flood in US history. Almost 300,000 African-Americans were forced to live in refugee camps which triggered a mass migration to northern cities. It affected over 700, 000 lives and 500 people died. It affected the way the government had to deal with the Mississippi River.

    Mickey Mouse was created and Walt Disney still continues it's legacy today.
  • Amelia Earhart

    Amelia Earhart took off to fly across the world by herself.
  • Kellogg-Briand Pact

    Kellogg-Briand Pact
    15 countries agreed to outlaw war except only in self defense. Tha pact did not include a punishment for breaking the agreement. By 1929, 39 other nations had also signed the agreement including the Soviet Union and Japan. Although the agreement fell apart, it set a precedent and became part of the U.N. Charter.

    Everyone enjoyed the Roaring 20s but didn't really see it happening. This crash caused almost everyone to lose money and to go back to poor/middle class lifestyles. This was the start to the Great Depression which lasted til 1941.
