    Artemisa Gentileschi was born on July 8, 1593 in Rome, Papal States Italy. She died in 1652/53 in Naples, Kingdom of Naples Italia. She was an Italian painter, daughter of Orazio Gentileschi, who was a major followed of the revolutionary Baroque painter Caravaggio. She was an important second-generation proponent of Caravaggio’s dramatic realism. Artemisa painted at fit in a style indistinguishable from her father’s somewhat lyrical interpretation of Caravaggio’s example.

    Judith Leyster (July 28, 1609-February 10, 1660) Haarlem, Netherlands. She was a Dutch painter who was one of the few female artists of the era to have emerged from obscurity. Among her known works are portraits, genre paintings, and still lives. Leyster was the daughter of a brewer. She began to paint while still quite young; by age 24 she had become a member of the Haarlem painters guild.
