    The Texian settlers were fighting against the mexican army troops. The Mexicans wanted to get their cannon back, that they had given the settlers. But the Texians had refused.
  • The Texas Declaration of Independence

    The Texas Declaration of Independence
    On March 1st The Convention of 1836 was called to order. The convention of 1836 was a meeting that took place in Washington-on-the-Brazos, Texas in March. Only elected delegates took place in the meeting.The next day they had came up with the Declaration of Independence (written by George C. Childress). The Delegates also elected an interm government which was led by David G. Burnet .

    The Mexican Army surrounded the Texans on February 23 and the battle ended on March 6 1836. The Battle of the Alamo was a 13-day siege against the Mexican army for Texas Independence.The Mexican troops were under the command of General Antonio Lopez De Santa Ana while the Texian troops were led by William B. Travis. Santa Anna orderered an attack on The Alamo mission near San Antonio De Bexar. This battle also inspired many Texians to join the Texian army for thier fight for independence.

    Texian settelers left their homes because they found out that Santa Anna was preparing to invade and retake Texas. Santa Anna would gather at Rio Grande to prepare to invade Texas. The Mexicans would take no prisoners.

    Under the orders of Sam Houston Fannin left goliad and headed to another army in Victoria. Fannin then led his army to Goliad, but the Mexican troops surrounded the Texans before he could even reach Coleto Creek. Coleto Creek was about 400 yards away.

    The Battle of San Jacinto was fought on April 21, 1836.The Texian army was led by General Sam Houston.The Texian army defeated General Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna's army in 18 minutes. Santa Anna was captured the next day and held as a prisoner.Three weeks later he signed the peace treaty in exchange for his life saying that the Mexican army would leave the Republic of Texas alone and let it be it's own independent country..... "Remeber the Alamo!" and " Remeber Goliad!".

    Santa Anna realized a way to control the Texans by burning down harrisburg. Since the texans felt they were being run from their homes they left. But Santa Anna still burned the place down leaving the Texans furious.

    Vince's Bayou was destroyed to prevent Santa Anna and his army from reaching reinforrcements. Its destuction was a very important role in the battle of San Jacinto. It in some way helped end the Texas revolution.

    The treaties of Velasco were two documents signed by President David G. Burnet for Texas and General Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna for Mexico.The treaties were intended to be the offical recognition of the Texan republic breakway for independence, Not only was there one treaty but there was two a public treaty and a secret treaty.
