The battle of Gonzales
The battle of Gonzales, where it all started. THis battle took place on October 2nd, 1835. The battle kicked off because the Mexicans gave the Texans a cannon to protect them from all of the Native American tribes. After the Mexicans gave them the cannon, Santa Anna wanted it back, because he thought that the Texans had too much power and could go against the Mexicans. This obviously made the Texans mad, so they decided to fight back, hence the start of the Texas Revolution. -
Siege of Bexar
The Siege of Bexar was after the Battle of Gonzales. Texan troops followed the Mexicans back to their base. The Texans made it to San Antonio, took charge, and staged a sneak attack. This shocked the Mexicans which led to the Texans winning the battle, and capturing San Antonio. After the battle, lots of people went home to their families. This left only about 100 people to defend the Alamo which caused problems in the future. -
Battle of the Alamo
The Battle of the Alamo occurred on February 18th, 1836. The battle lasted 13 days! It started with only 189 Texan soldiers against 4,000 Mexican soldiers! Surprisingly, in the start of the battle, it looked to be that the Texans were winning! Suddenly, on day 13, Mexico was able to scale the wall and reach the mission. The Texans were not able to fight them since they were outnumbered. This resulted in defeat for the Texans. Mexico lost 500 men and sadly, the Texans lost all of their men. -
Travis's letter
On February 24th, 1836, Travis sent out a letter to all of America in hopes to recruit people to help out during the battle of the Alamo. Mexico was outnumbering the Texans, and it would be unfair to the Texans if they did not have as many people to help fight against Mexico. -
The Runaway Scrape
On March 14th, The Runaway Scrape started, after the Battle of the Alamo. After the battle, Mexico was tense which caused Santa Anna to travel to Gonzales. On his travel, he would kill any revolutionist that came across his path. Because of this, Texans packed everything up and fled to America which was 200 miles East. At this time, General Sam Houston ordered for the town to be burned down so Anna wouldn't get any benefit. So, when they came back to Gonzales, they came back to nothing at all. -
The Goliad Massacre
The Goliad Massacre all started when James Fannin, a commander proceeded to travel to Goliad to save the men who were to be executed. Fannin was not a great leader. For example, he was unorganized, and he even disobeyed an order to retreat which is one of the reasons that many men died. When Fannin was attempting to return to the base, he ran into Mexican soldiers who were surrounding him and ended up capturing him. In the end, they were sent back to Goliad, and were executed for their actions.
