Mexico Bans Immigration
Anastasio Bustamante bans more Americans from moving into Texas. Immigration from America did not stop because he was worried about too much American influence, however there were about 35000 Americans living there by 1836. -

He wrote a report that said trade between Mexico and should increase in an effort to eliminate trade in the U.S. he wanted more soliders in Texas to keep Mexican control. -

Texas created a list of changes they want from the Mexican government. The Mexican government rejects those changes including the Texas-created constitution. -
Stephen F. Austin's Arrest
Steohen f. Austin goes to Saltillo to give Texas' demands to Farias. Austin then writes a letter wanting Texas to secede, but Farias got ahold of the letter. Stephen F. Austin was sent to Jail. -
The First Shots Fired
Mexican troops marched to Gonzales, Texas to scare the Indians, who they feared would attack. Texans did not let the soliders into the town and fired on them. This is the start of the actual Texas revolution. -
Battle of Goliad
Texas settlers attack the Mexican troops near Goliad. The Texans win the battle and force the Mexican troops out. This allows Texans to get a lot of food and supplies. -
Battle of Concepcion
This is the first major battle of the Texas Revolution. The Texas army marches in San Antonio to fight the Mexican soliders. The Texas army was outnumbered 5 to 1, but their opponent,the Mexicans, were not well-trained and not ready to fight. -

Siege of Bexar
The Texas army attacks Mexican troops at Bexar, today's San Antonio. After this battle, most of the Texas army leaves because Texabs feel as if they have control. -
Texas Declaration of Indepedance
Delegates from all over Texas met for the Convention of 1836. George C. Childress was elected to write the Texas Declaration of Independance. This gave motivation to the troops in battle. -
Republic of Texas
The Republic of Texas formed as a seperate nation after gaining independence from Mexico. The Congress approved the Texas constituition and Texas became a state. The republic lasted for almost 10 years. -
The Fall/Battle of the Alamo
The soliders defended the Alamo from the Mexican army for 13 days before it fell on March 6. It bought time for Sam Houston to train his army before charging Santa Anna's army. This event also gave the Texans another motivation to fight. Famous fighters in this battle included David Crockett and James Bowie. -
Runaway Scrape
The Texan settlers heard that Santa Anna would burn anything in his way to Houston Troops. The settlers fled for their lives, leaving everything behind except for what they needed. They headed for Sabiine River. -
Battle of Coleto Creek
General Urrea attempts to retreat from Goliad. Texans are surrounded by the Mexican army. After one day of fighting Fannin and his 300 Texas soliders surrender. -
Santa Anna Burns Harrisburg
Santa Anna burned Harrisburg to scare Texan soliders into waving the white flag and surrendering. It outraged many Texans that he would burn their towns. -
Treaties of Velasco
Santa Anna agreed to several terms that Sam Houston had made in order to stop the Texas Revolution. The treaties pushed Mexican troops out of Texas. The treaties also made the border of Texas at the Rio Grande. -
Battle of San Jacinto
This battle won the revolution for the Texans. Sam Houston planned the battle. It only lasted 18 minutes. During the battle the Texans captured Santa Anna which led to the treates of Velasco. -
Sante Fe Expedition
This expedition begun before it was authorized. It went west to New Mexico to find new territory away from Mexican Territory. Members that were caught were taken prisoner by Mexican troops. -
Texas Annexation
Texas was annexed into the United States under the administration of James Polk, who was at the time the president. This was an effort to solve the republic's financial problems. The reaction from Mexico was cutting off the diplomatic ties with the U.S. -
US-Mexican War
Mexico was at odds with the United States after the annexation of Texas. They did not like the borderlines nor the expanision of the U.S. James Polk ordered troops to be stationed at the border to protect Texas. The Mexican government responded with war. This created the Battle of Palo Alto- the first major battle of the US-Mexican War.
