The Fredonian Rebellion Ends
The Republic of Fredonian was stopped by the Mexican troops with the help of Stephen F. Austin's men. Hayden Edwards and his brother, William Edwards, fled to Louisiana before they could be executed by the Mexican army. They left the other 2 leaders, Richard Fields and John Dunn Hunter, to be executed. -
The Mier y Teran Report
Mexican General José Manuel Rafael Simeón de Mier y Terán didn't like how there were so many Anglo-American immigrants settling in Texas. He was afraid that they would try to overrun the government. He wrote a letter to the government stating that they should do something about the increasing population Anglo immigrants. -
The Law of 1830
This was a law passed after the Mier y Teran report to make Texas look less appealing to Anglo settlers. This law stated that slaves weren't allowed, cancelled all unfulfilled land grants, forbided immigration from the United States, and established new forts. -
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
After the Law of April 6, 1830, a group of men, led by William B. Travis, protested against the unfair law. William B. Travis was arrested by Lieutenant John Davis Bradburn. A group of Travis's men captured Mexican soldiers as hostage, hoping that they would exchange Travis for them. Instead, Mexican troops went in search to arrest them. They fled to Turtle Bayou. While they were waiting there, they decided to come up with a list of resolutions that explained their actions. -
Stephen F. Austin Got Arrested
On his way back home, he got arrested by the Mexican government. They claimed that he wasn't loyal to them and how they thought he was going to lead a rebellion against them. He was thrown into prison at Mexico City after that. -

He was released from jail on a bond. He was still forbidden to leave the city. -

He left under general amnesty and proceded on his way home. -
The Constitutional Convention of 1836
The Constitutional Convention of 1836 wrote The Texas Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Republic of Texas. These documents sealed the deal of Texas' independence.
