Giving them power over the educational system allowed them to influence the future generation with religious morals and values.     The last Muslim kingdom fell in 1492. Since the kingdom fell, it allowed other religions to take more power. Islamic power was a huge rival to Christians. Since the Islamic power was gone, other religions could take over the land, power, and people.
