Benno turns 14 and leaves the hostel to start a life on nhis own. He moves to Lonon to an apartment across from Heinz'. -
The news...
Benno and Heinz hear from a previous neighbor that their parents and little brother Charlie had been sent to Auschwitz concentration camp in March 1943 and had been gassed imediately upon arrival. The neighbor was transported with them to Auschwitz but was not gassed. They hope and pray that this information is not true. Image details: A gas chamber in Auschwitz concentration camp. -

Benno gets married!!!
Benno marries a young English girl named Rita and they been married for 54 years. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. -
The official news...
Benno gets the official papers from the Red Cross stating that that indeed his family had been killed in Auschwitz. :(
