Raspberry Pi is a series of small single-board computers (SBCs) developed in the United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in association with Broadcom. The original idea behind the invention was to teach basic computer science in schools and in developing countries. The model became more popular than anticipated, and is now widely used in many areas, such as for weather monitoring, tech hobbyists, and robotics because of its low cost, modularity, HDMI and USB standards, and open design. -
University of Michigan Announces Completion of Micro Mote
Michigan Micro Mote (M3), the world’s smallest computer, has taken its place among other revolutionary accomplishments in the history of computing. Measuring in at less than a half a centimeter, the M3 is a fully autonomous computing system that acts as a smart sensing system. It is the achievement of Michigan faculty members David Blaauw, Dennis Sylvester, David Wentzloff, Prabal Dutta and several graduate students. -

Apple Watch is a line of smartwatches produced by Apple. It incorporates fitness tracking, health-oriented capabilities, and wireless telecommunication, and integrates with iOS and other Apple products and services. The Apple Watch quickly became the best-selling wearable device after its release. The watch was originally only available in aluminum casing, and the watch band could be selected from multiple options from Apple, or from co-branded bands with companies such as Nike and Hermès. -
Microsoft Releases Windows 10
Windows 10 is a major release of Microsoft's Windows operating system. It is the direct successor to Windows 8.1, released nearly two years earlier. Windows 10 was made available for download as a free upgrade for retail copies of Windows 8 and 8.1 users via the Windows Store, and to Windows 7 users via an update. Windows 10 receives new builds on an ongoing basis, which are available at no additional cost to users. Windows 10 received generally positive reviews upon its original release. -

The first programmable and reprogrammable quantum computer has been created. This technology could usher in a much-anticipated era of quantum computing, which could help scientists run complex simulations and produce rapid solutions to tricky calculations. Research suggests that quantum computers could simultaneously perform more calculations in one instant than there are atoms in the universe.
