My first years of the Internet were spent on dial-up. I was a regular at age four-six with CD:Rom Games and cartoon flash games. It was always unbearably slow, but I was addicted to printing paper crafts on my grandma's printer, too! I think this was the beginning stages of my subsequent MMO game addiction in the 2000's.

I got my first gaming console in November of 2003 when Looney Tunes:Back in Action released on PlayStation 2. This led to many days of BlockBuster visits. I would go on to get a GameBoy, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and eventually a gaming laptop. I would go on to own a Switch, Steam Deck, and high-end gaming PC in the future.

I would say that this is the fondest memory I have with technology and one of the best I remember with my parents before they divorced. On a random November night, my parents decided to go to Walmart and buy the newly released Guitar Hero III. It was spontaneous and innocent. I quickly became attached and it remains my party trick into adulthood. Photo is me in 2011... edgy pre-teen! -
In December 2009, just months after my beloved VMK closed, I asked for and received Animal Crossing for Christmas. This was my first game in the franchise, and it helped me a lot as I didn't have many real friends and hanging out with my animal neighbors was therapeutic. I became extremely attached to Biskit the Dog, such to the point that I got a tattoo of him in 2024. I don't think anything can beat the peaceful memories of catching bugs to slow, chill Animal Crossing bugs at 11:00 PM. -
I got my first iPhone 3GS in 2010. On account of receiving my own personal laptop, I discovered jailbreaking -- the modification of the Apple firmware to allow greater flexibility in how you use and design your device. I just really wanted My Little Pony phone icons. I was only 11! I was really fixated on graphic design and cheeky computer things at this age.
