    Invention of Wifi
    The invention of Wi-fi was evolving years before version 802.11 was released. In 1974, Vic Hayes dubbed as the father of Wi-fi helped create a system for use on cashier registers that later developed to the introduction of Wi-fi. The first version provided up to 2 Mbit/s link speeds. This was updated in 1999 to permit 11 Mbit/s link speeds, which is when the internet truly got popular.
