Technology Timeline

  • 2005(5y/o)

    Received my first flip phone because I stayed alone at home a lot. It was a red, flip phone from Verizon, and I dropped it in water when I was seven.
  • 2011(10y/o)

    Needed my first laptop. My dad had bought it from a coworker who salvaged it. It was enormous, and could only be used while plugged in. I used it for schoolwork, research, and writing; the old machine didn’t load fast for games or shows, so I mostly used it for work.

    I was gifted my first tablet, a KindleFire, for my 11th birthday. I used it everyday, and all the time, all my games, movies, books, etc. were on that device. I broke about five and the warranty covered each one. I didn’t treat them well, and I always used it while it charged and busted the charging port.
  • 2014(13y/o)

    Finally convinced my parents to buy me my first smartphone, which is very different from my flip, so I’m counting it as another technology. Once I got my smartphone, it was like having a kindle, a phone, and a laptop all in one. Which basically just means it was the most convenient computer I’d ever had.
  • 2015(14y/o)

    I bought my first drawing tablet, and that had been unlike any other technology I’d used up until this point. It was an enormous, Wacom Tablet that plugged in my laptop, and allowed me to draw.
