  • The lightning rod

    The lightning rod was invented by Benjamin Franklin. It was designed and used to harmlessly bring lightning down into the ground without harming the structure.

  • The submarine

    The first ever submarine invented was named "The Turtle." It was able to attack the HMS Eagle harbored in New York.

  • The first Cotton Gin

    This cotton gin was first invented by Eli Whitney. Sadly he didn't become rich off of this, due to other cotton farmers who invented other versions of it.

  • The first Coffee Pot

    Before this was invented, people who were a fan of coffee had to chew their grounds. But not any more after Benjamin Thompson's invention.

  • The first ever Steamboat

    These boats were able to travel down rivers around 5 mph. This wasn't much but made trading a lot easier.

  • The Plough

    This technological invention made farming way easier in america and farmers didn't need to go through as much labor as they used to.

  • First camera evened

    It was invented by Nicéphore Niépce. He coated a piece of paper in with silver chloride, which darkened when it was exposed to light.

  • Electro-Magnetic Motor

  • The Reaping Machine

    This machine was invented to replace the scythe. This made cutting grains much faster and easier.

  • The sewing machine

    This machine was such a helpful tool for women back in the day. Women didn't have to hand sew anymore and made designing clothing much faster and easier.

  • Threshing Machine

    This separated the grain from the chaff automatically which made the process faster and easier for farmers.

  • The Telegraph

    This changed communication back then. The telegraph was able to send messages as far from Baltimore to the Supreme Court in Washington, DC.
