    This is a photo editing application that is still commonly used today. At the time, it was only used by professional photographers, but now anyone can use it! This tool was the inspiration of many other photo editing tools that have popped up.
  • Text messaging

    The very first text message was sent in 1992. The first message was sent from a computer to a phone and said "Merry Christmas". This opened up the world of unlimited text messaging that we have now. The first messages were limited to 160 characters so they could fit onto existing signalling formats.
  • Nokia 1011

    Nokia 1011
    This was the first mass produced phone, and was considered advanced technology. It had an antenna and monochrome LCD. It could also remember about 99 phone numbers! This remained one of the most popular cell phones until the early 2000's.
  • Sony Playstation

    This opened up a whole new market for video games. At first, video games were just thought of as something that would entertain kids, but when this Playstation came out, it opened up the door for adults to play and enjoy video games as well.

    Invented by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
    Google is a very popular internet-related source. This technology is important because it has given people the chance to look things up and receive fast and accurate results.
  • DVDs

    DVDs
    These were typically thought of as movies, but they were really just a storage device, and anything could be put on one. These were invented by David Paul Gregg and James Russell.
  • Gameboy (in color)

    This opened up a whole new world for people that played video games. Before this, video games were in black and white. When this version of the Gameboy came out, the color gave a more appealing effect and opened the door for other companies to do this with their technology.
