    America secures her independence from Britain.

  • Presidential Election of 1828

    War hero, Andrew Jackson is elected president for his first term.

  • Presidential Election of 1860

    Republican President Abraham Lincoln is elected, turning the United States towards the Civil War.

  • South Carolina's Secession

    South Carolina becomes the first state to leave the Union.

  • Civil War Begins

    A confederate Brigadier General Beauregard fires the first shot of the Civil War.

  • General "Stonewall" Jackson Dies

    Important and successful Confederate General, "Stonewall Jackson" died at the battle of Chancellorsville.

  • Battle of Vicksburg

    Union General Grant splits the Confederacy apart with his capture of the city Vicksburg.

  • General Robert E. Lee Surrenders

    Robert E. Lee surrenders to Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, basically ending the Civil War.
