The First microchip was made by Jack Kilby in 1958. He was an electoral engineer at Texas Interments. The microchip is now used in almost everything to day, and also help bring the size of both phones and computers down to what they are today. -

Before the world wide net or internet, people would use need a modem to send messages to each other. A modem is a a modulator-demodulator, which would take the input form the computer and put it in wave wavelength and send it throw phone lines and when you got the message it would decode it and display the massage.
