    World Wide Web
    While the Internet and electronic mail (email) where invented in the 60's, the World Wide Web wasn't invented until the 90's. The World Wide Web (WWW) is a system of web pages and documents that can be access via the internet using web browsers (such as Chrome or Safari). The foundation of the web was developed by Tim Berners-Lee.
  • Text Messages

    Text Messages
    Text messages were invented in 1992 by Neil Papworth. Texts are short electronic messages sent between two digital devices. They originally contained only alphanumeric characters, but have now been expanded to include images, videos, sound recordings and emojis.
  • PlayStation

    PlayStation
    The original PlayStation was launched in 1994 by Sony. The PlayStation was a huge success and became the first computer gaming system to sell over 100 million. Sony has continued to make PlayStations, the latest being the PS5 released in 2020, which are still viewed today as one of the best gaming consoles on the market.
  • DVD

    DVD
    The DVD (digital video disc) was invented in 1995. The DVD could store high quality digital movies or computer files, and was frequently used as a means of installing software. Nowadays, the DVD is mostly known as a video format which preceded Blu-Ray (and eventually streaming media). The DVD format was created by Philips and Sony.
  • Google!

    Google!
    Google was created in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. It is a search engine used for crawling content on the web and then providing results to users who perform searches. Google had early competition, but has grown to dominate the search engine space and is now ubiquitous for internet searches: "Google it".
