Despite costing a load of money hundreds of thousands of people purchased compact discs in the whole time span of 1980. Going from cassette tapes to CD's was a convenient idea because you could skip to the exact song you wanted to listen to. The first album released onto a disc was by Billy Joel. -
Space Shuttle Columbia
The Columbian Space Shuttle successfully finished 27 missions starting April 1981. An incident in 2003 regarding 7 crew mates deaths left the organization in shambles. The shuttle program was a huge technology that unfortunately had loads of risk. -
The IBM PC
The IBM PC was a huge advancement in the industry. It contained more apps than any of the earlier versions of IBM. This invention made buying computer parts from third-party stores normal. This computer had compatibility features that other companies couldn't compete with. It set the standard of modern day computers and all modern computers can be simplified to the core standard of this invention. -
Cellular Phone
The Motorola DynaTAC 8000X was a huge hit just as CD's. The cost was expensive but many wanted it, so they sold many and were able to create a successful business from it. It was common for the phone to only have a battery life that could last about 30 minutes while the recharge time would be around 10 hours. -
High Definition Televisions
The High Definition Television had created 720p and 1080p (the most popular to this day). It contains over 2 million pixels as opposed to half a million or less. High definition is still changing today. Common televisions are offering 4k and an "8k" is in the work right now, but has a ways to go.
