It was made from wood and two gear wheels that sat perpendicular to each other to allow movement on one axis. In 1967 he filed for patent with the " X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System."

    In 1966 Ralph Baer had the idea for a video game console which he later created in 1967. He lost the first game that was played in 1967 and completed the working prototype in 1968. It hit the market in 1972 and was known by fans as the Magnavox Odyssey.
