  • Snow

    Snow
Cassie Scientists discovered that when a snowflake falls into water, it puts a tiny amount of air just below the surface. Before this air reaches the surface of the water it lets out a piercing noise. This sound is about 50-200 Kilohertz, which is too loud to be heard by the human ear. This means that for animals that live in the water, such as fish, can hear it. Site

  • Scientists are more on the ball

Scientists are more on the ball
In 2004 scientists estimate our galaxy to be about 10.4 billion to 16 billion years old. To find out how old our galaxy is they would have to take the two oldest stars (A0228 and A2111) and determine their age. They knew that the galaxy had to be at least as old as those two stars, but these are not first generation stars. First generation stars were the very first stars, so if we could find out how old those stars were we could figure out the age of our galaxy.
  • Fish

    Fish
180 species of mid-water fish, 87 near-bottom fish, 5 never before seen squid and angler fish, and one massive ring of plankton were discovered in the summer of 2004. • Matt Nagle

    Matt Nagle
Cassie In 2005 Matt Nagle, a man paralyzed from the neck down, was able to use an artificial hand to grab objects. This is a big leap in science, as he was able to control something with just his thoughts. A chip was implanted into his brain and, with the use of a computer program, he was able to control a mechanical hand. This shows that there is hope for other quadriplegics that they will someday be able to control mechanical arms and legs to regain their normal lives again.
