The development of the "short-link" radio technology, later named Bluetooth, was initiated in 1989 by Nils Rydbeck. The technology was invented in 1994 by a group of engineers at Ericsson. It was originally intended to act as a wireless alternative to RS-232 cables. -

Hastings invested $2.5 million in startup cash for Netflix. Netflix was launched on April 14, 1998, with only 30 employees and 925 works available through the pay-per-rent model. Netflix introduced the monthly subscription concept in September 1999, and then dropped the single-rental model in early 2000. -
