    Scissors

    Scissors
    The ancient Egyptians were the first people to make the scissors. They were made out of single piece of metal, typically bronze, fashioned into two blades that were controlled by a metal strip.The strip kept the blades apart until they were squeezed. Each blade was a scissor. Collectively, the blades were scissors. Through trade and adventure, the device eventually spread beyond Egypt to other parts of the world.

    Rockets

    Rockets
    The date reporting the first use of true rockets was in 1232. At this time, the Chinese and the Mongols were at war with each other. During the battle of Kai-Keng, the Chinese repelled the Mongol invaders by a barrage of "arrows of flying fire." These fire-arrows were a simple form of a solid-propellant rocket. A tube, capped at one end, contained gunpowder. The other end was left open and the tube was attached to a long stick.

    Oven
    The first ovens that were ever made were made out of brick and mud. The constructions were pretty good in keeping heat inside and were well insulated. The ovens were heated with wood and later with coal. Temperatures could go up well above 400 degrees Celsius during burning. Only the richer households would be able to afford ovens. They would usually only use the ovens to make bread.

    Submarine
    William Bourne was the person who created the first ever submarine. He was a mathematician and a writer of naval subjects. William Bourne didn't neccasarily creat the submarine but he had the first idea. The first submarine went under the water 12 - 15 feet. The outer part of the submarine consisted of greased leather, over a wooden frame; oars extended through the sides, and sealed with tight-fitting leather flaps.

    Blaise Pascal is usually credited for building the first digital computer in 1642. It added numbers entered with dials and was made to help his father, a tax collector.The basic principle of his calculator is still used today in water meters and modern-day odometers. Instead of having a carriage wheel turn the gear, he made each ten-teeth wheel accessible to be turned directly by a person's hand.

    Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first steam powered automobile, capable of human transportation. The first automobile was a huge steam powered tricycle. It could tun for 20 minutes at 2.25 mph, while carrying 4 people. Not to long after he built the first automobile, there was lots of different people improving and styling there own type of automobile.

    Alexander Bell invented the telephone. Alexander success with the telephone came as a direct result of his attempts to improve the telegraph. Alexander was trying to improve the telegraph because the telegraph was limited to receiving and sending one message at a time. Bell's knowledge of the nature of sound and music enabled him the possibility transmitting multiple messages over the same wire at the same time. Then in 1876 the first telephone was patented.

    Thomas Edison created the first light bulb. He began researching the topic in early 1878. Then in late 1878 Edison filed his first patent for "Improvement in Electric lights" After many experiments he finally had a successful test in 1879. After his test he continued to improve his design and it was finally patented.
  • Airplanes

    Airplanes
    Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first successful flight in history, in North Carolina. Orville and Wilbur grew up together, and they both developed an interest in aviation in the 1890s. Orville and Wilbur did not attend college but they did open up a bicycle repair shop, and soon began to build their own bicycles. That experience and there profits from there other businesses allowed them to pursue their dream of building the world’s first airplane.

    The first electronic television was created by a 21 year old inventor named Philo Farnsworth. Philo lived in a home without electricity untill the age of 14. When he got into high school he started thinking about a system that could capture moving images, then transform those images into codes, then finally move the images a long radio waves to different devices. The first image ever transmitted by television was a simple line. Later, Philo famously transmited a dollar sign using his television.
