The atomic bomb
On August 2, 1939, just before World War 2, Albert Einstein wrote to then President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Einstein and a few other scientists wanted to purify uranium-235, which could be used to create an atomic bomb. Shortly after that The U.S. government begain the serious undertaking known as "The Manhattan Project." This project was going to research to produce a viable atomic bomb. -
