Description: a wooden counting board that performs the basic arithmetic problems by moving the beads from top to bottom or left to right.
relation:
My mom is a teacher so, when we were young she would bring home different tools to help my siblings and I learn various topics. One day she brought home the Abacus to teach us on how to count plus we made it a game between us when moving the pieces around.
fun fact:
Today, some people prefer to use the Abacus instead of a scientific calculator. -
Printing Calculator
Description: A mechanical calculator that can calculate series with 5-digit numbers and first-order differences.
relation: The calculator saved many me many problems in all of my math classes that I have taken in my younger years. I believe without the invention of the calculator I probably would have been lost in class.
fun facts:
Is the size of a piano.
The calculator was not perfect as believed as it could not produce complete tables.
The calculator was used to create logarithmic tables. -
Telephone
Description: a communication device that allows long distance communication between two people.
relation: I would not be able to communicate to my family who do not live close or have another option talking to a business or school when I do interviews which I believe is less stressful and personal.
fun facts:
The first words spoken on the phone were "“Watson come here, I want you!".
The famous phrase “to put someone on hold” was made when Bell told “here, hold this.” to his assistant . -
Television
Description: A device that converts radio waves to motion images on a screen.
relation: I truly believe that the television along with other things has shaped me into what I am today because I was able to learn valuable lessons and grew from them. I the television has allowed me to keep track of what is going on in the world by just clicking the on button.

The first image displayed on the television was a mere straight line. -
PC (Apple I Computers)
Description:a device that combines both a keyboard and
screen to display info.
relation: To be honest, without a computer, I probably would not have been pursuing a career in computer science. Working with my computer over the years gives me a sense of gratitude because I was able to learn a lot about computers through my PC and the era of tech.

One of the first computer to come pre-assembled with one motherboard and its 60 chips. -
