Technological Advances in Jennifer's Time

  • Internet

    Internet
I vaguely remember having dial up internet growing up. I remember playing on the computer, but someone wanting to make a call so I would have to get off the internet. It is crazy to think about the internet as a child and the internet I have now, using my phone for a personal hotspot. https://www.wnycstudios.org/story/why-are-2-million-people-still-signed-aols-dial-internet
  • Overhead Projectors No More

I remember in elementary school, my teachers used overhead projectors or whiteboards. That was it. Then in 5th grade, we got a Smart Board. We were all excited and thought it was the coolest thing ever, until we had to calibrate it every time we bumped it. Now, today in my classroom, I have one of the most up-to-date Smart Panels there are. It can connect to the internet, it can show videos and play sound; things have come a long way.
  • MySpace...I mean Facebook

    MySpace...I mean Facebook
Social media is one of the greatest (and worst) inventions of our time. The very first popular social media sites I remember and had was MySpace. MySpace let you personalize everything: pictures, background, music, etc.. Then Facebook came along and now it is like what is MySpace? Facebook changed everything. While it wasn't as personal as MySpace, it had so much to offer. I can connect with friends, family, and colleagues. https://stubhillnews.com/2016/05/21/myface/
  • iPhone's change the world

My very first cellphone was this little black flip-phone. It was sufficient for being a 7th grader, I could text and call who I needed. Then when I was in 10th grade (2010-2011), my who view on phones changed. For Christmas, I received my first iPhone. Now I could be connected to my friends, be on social media, and even see my sisters even though they had gone to college. iPhone's have kept us in touch, and they continue to keep us in-touch today, when we live states away from each other.
  • Reading...just got easier

    Reading...just got easier
I love to read; however, I do not always have the storage for my books. When I got my first Kindle Fire, my world changed. I was now able to have as many books as my device and cloud could hold. I was (and still am) in heaven. I also use my Kindle Fire for textbooks, social media, and emails. https://www.ebay.com/p/Amazon-Fire-5th-Generation-16GB-Wi-Fi-7in-Black/222472160
  • DVD's Get An Upgrade

    DVD's Get An Upgrade
Entertainment had changed a lot in the past few decades. From having VHS, to DVDs, to Blu-Ray, and now 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray/Digital Copies. The clarity, sound, and special affects have changed the movie world for the better. It wasn't until 2018 that I got my first Blu-Ray player, and it changes how well I can see and hear pictures. With the Digital Copy, I can take movies everywhere without fear of losing them. https://www.target.com/p/star-trek-beyond-4k-uhd-blu-ray-dvd-digital/-/A-51406414
