Its popularity allowed family and friends to share photos and connect with each other in ways that they couldn't do before. It inspired most other social media sites and lead to the industries popularity today.

    Marc Randolph/ Reed Hastings/ Netflix Netflix originally just shipped DVDs but in early 2007 the started to offer streaming shows and movies instead. This eventually became what they were known for and became the basis of how we consume entertainment today. It provided a show or movie with no ads on demand as opposed to the traditional cable service.

    No specific inventor (made by several government and private companies) First commercially available in Norway in 2009 this higher speed connection substantially increased the amount of things people and do with their cellular devices including things like video streaming. Significantly faster than 3G networks it propelled the world into being more interconnected than ever and is still used today while its successor is getting adopted.
