  • Deceleration of Independence Signed

    On July 4, 1776 the 13 colonists announced they were seceding from Great Britain. This deceleration outlined why they should be free from the rule of great Britain as well as them declaring their freedoms. This forever changed the future of the colonies and was just the start to their new found freedom
  • Treaty of Paris

    This treaty ended the 7 year war that involved the United states, Great Britain and France. This treaty also ended the American Revolutionary War. This treaty formally declared the United states independence and it prohibits Great Britain military in the United states.
  • Bill of rights

    After gaining their independence, the colonists wanted a strong government created with strong foundations. That's when the constitution was created along with 10 amendments that give the individual freedoms to each colonist. It was made to not repeat Great Britain's control and lack of representation of the colonist and to give each colonist freedoms and liberty.
  • Louisana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the united states, bought $15,000,000 worth of land from France. This doubled the size of the United States. Jefferson was worried about the constitutionality as it doesn't say if presidents can purchase land. Napoleon threatened tried to take back his offer and this got rid of all the doubts Jefferson had and The united States gained land.
  • Transalatic Slave Trade Abloished

    The Transatlantic Slave Trade became illegal in 1803. However, the domestic trading of slaves and whaling ships still existed and slavery continue for many years to come. The reasoning for the end of the trade was economic, political or moral issues.
