  • Boombox

    Boombox
    Invented in 1975 by the Woelfel brothers, the Boombox wasn't an actual hit until the 1980s. Primarily famous in the younger generation, the boombox allowed consumers to listen to their music on the go. The boombox really reached the African American and Hispanic communities, especially with the rise of rap and Latin American artists.

    Walkman
    The walkman was created by Sony co-founder, Masaru Ibuka in 1979 because he wanted to listen to music while he was sitting through his flight. Before the walkman, headphones in public would have been seen as rude or antisocial but it quickly became an accepted behavior. The walkman quickly became the first of many portable audio players

    VCR
    The VCR was created in 1979 in Japan. It had a significant impact on the broadcasting and program production of the early 80s and with the creation of the VHS system it became popular and a norm to have videos on VCR tapes in your own home.
  • Floppy Discs

    Floppy Discs
    Before "the cloud" became a thing, floppy disks were used to store limited amounts of data. Following IBM's Diskette of the 1970s, we see the floppy discs evolve from what it once was. While the Diskette was very large in size, the Floppy discs continuously start to size down from there. The first IBM PC which was sold in 1981 was available with floppy drives. The floppy disk really changed the way how data is saved and became a model of what we have of modern data.
  • Gameboy

    Gameboy
    The Gameboy was created by Nintendo's Gunpei Yokoi on April 21, 1989. This was Nintendo's second handheld system but it was the first to use video game cartridges. When the first game was created the first video game compatable with the Gameboy was Tetris. As the year past, the Gameboy quickly evolved.
