Mary Francis Thompson (TeAta) is born in Emet, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. -
1906
Tribal lands are divided into farms. All tribal governments are dissolved. TeAta was forced into public school. -
1919
TeAta graduates from the Oklahoma College For Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma with a degree in theater. -
1922
TeAta moves to New York City and lands a part on Broadway. -
1932
TeAta performs for President F.D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor at the White House. -
1933
TeAta marries botanist and museum curator Clyde Fisher. -
1949
TeAta's husband Clyde Fisher dies. -
1957
TeAta is inducted into the Oklahoma State Hall of Fame for her contributions to promoting Native American history and culture. -
1987
TeAta was given the honor of being named the first "Oklahoma Cultural Treasure. -
1990
Te Ata became the first woman to be inducted into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame. -

TeAta Fisher dies just two months shy of her 100th birthday. -
