    Spanish explorer, Cristopher Columbus, sailed the Atlantic in search for India. Instead, he landed in North America, claiming the island for Spain. His motives were gold, glory, and God.

    13 Colonies Founded
    The 13 Colonies were founded from 1602 tp 1732. These colonies cosisted of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersy, Masachussetts, Rhode Island, Conneticut, and New York.

    Settlement of Jamestown
    Jamestown was established in 1607 by the men of the London Company. They settled on a penisula of what is now Virginia because they thougt they would be protected from the attacks of the Native Americans.

    The Separatists, more commonly known as the Pilgrims, wanted their children to grow up in English culture, yet they wanted the freedom to worship how they wanted to. So, they boarded the Mayflower and sailed to the New World in hope that they would start their own colony, which is one of the starts of the original 13 colonies.

    A movement which revived the religious belief in the American colonies that began in the 1730's. It swept through and influenced the colonies very swiftly.

    Also called the 7 year war, this war was fought between the fFrench and Indians v.s. the English. The English won.

    When British soldiers fired into a raging mob that was gathered outside of the custom's house, killing 5 civlians and wounding more.

    Late at night, the Sons of Liberty, dressed as Indians, got onto the British ships in the Boston harbor and with hatchets in hand, dumped all of the tea off of the ships into the harbor.

    When the militia tried to hold off the British Army at the bridge leading into Concord. This lead to a retreat from the British and a new confidence for the minutemen.

    George Washington and his troops roamed the colonies in below freezing temperatures with little food, supplies, and clothes to keep them warm. Despite these disadvantages, the American army came out with a victory and a new confidence in their ability to defend freedom.

    George Washington and his troops were joined by the French army and fulfilled a surprise attack on the British who were driven to Chesapeake Bay after a tiring chase from the American army. Saratoga:
    The turning point in the war were the Americans defeated the British after a long battle.

    The end of the Revolutionary War. This gave the Americans full freedom from Great Britain, gave the Americans their rightful land back, and the United States gave back all of the property to the Loyalists that was taken during the war.

    There was a money shortage that affected the farmers because their land was taken away. A group of them led by Shay, rebelled and closed courthouses. They were eventtually overtaken by the military.

    The election between Jefferson and Adams that resulted in a tie to be broken by Hamilton which lead to the 12 ammendment in the Constitution.

    The United States paid France $15 million dollars for their claimed land.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    Lewis and Clark set out to find an all water route through the western United States to the Western (Pacific) Ocean. This expatidition lasted for 2 years and ended in September of 1806.

    This war was made up of little battles throughout the northeastern part of the United States and lasted until Feb. 18, 1815. This war would've ended sooner because the Treaty of Ghent was signed, but communication was slow, so another battle was started.

    The movement of Cherokee Indians to Indian reservations further west which lead to cruel punishment of the Indians on the journey to their destination.

    This war bewteen the Southern slave states and the Northern free states lasted until April 9, 1865. The Southerners believed that they had a right to own slaves while the Northerners disagreed and they went to war.
