Film Splicing
Film splicing is how people used to join pieces of film together and they did this by hand. -
Film Splicing - The Moviola
This helped film editors edit as they were able to watch the film at the sametime. It was the first movie editing machine as was invented by a man called Iwan Serriuer in 1924. The machine is not needed to be used anymore whilst films are being edited as most computer prgrammes are able to edit films. -
Reel to reel (Magnetaphon)
Linear editing was used to edit electric video tapes in the 1930's. It was done as magnetic tapes(video tapes) used to have all the information and the pieces of video tapes would be put together. This method is no longer used as it is done on computers. -
Computers
Most editing is done on computers nowadays. This is because computers are able to store all of the information and is easier for the editors. Softwares such as Final cut and Adobe are what most editors use. When this method is used there is no need for splicing for printing.
