Discrimination of European Immigration
The Immigration Act was Created.The government started restrictions surrounding immigration of Europeans and they made laws so there would be less European immigration. They didn't want immigrates in Canada and discriminated towards immigrants entering Canada and living free. -
Komagata Maru
A boat with East-Indian immigrants trying to immigrate to Vancouver gets denied access to enter Canada because of their race and being immigrants. -
KKK (Ku Klux Klan)
Saw Black people, Aboriginal people, Immigrants and some Catholic Immigrants. KKK had 20,000 members in Vancouver alone and was a very powerful group in Saskatchewan and took out the liberal party. The vicious attacks and struggle of prejudie and discrimination continued till the 1930's -
Jew Discrimination
In the 1930's the Jews were socially discriminated in Canada from many things like social clubs, beaches, and resorts. There was also an immigration rules and didn't take any Jew refugees in at the time because of Nazi's and the holocaust was happening at the time. -
Racial Prejudice: Japanese-Canadians
The government demanded over 22,000 Japanese-Canadian's to leave the Pacific coast area due to the attack on Pearl Harbor, so at the time there was a lot of discrimination towards Japanese people and by 1947 the government deported all Japanese because they saw them as a threat. -
Women's Voting Rights
This was the year that all woman finally got the right to vote in nationally elections. All voting discrimination including Aboriginal women was removed and they were all able to vote. -
Bills C-55 and C-84 in Effect
Bills C-55 and C-84 regarding the revised determination system and the creation of the Immigration and Refugee Board was in effect.
