Battle of Britain
Throughout August and October, 1940, Britain and Germany were at war. Germany's main focus was to bomb ships, coastal towns and major cities. Germany wanted to take over England because it was one of the last remaining cities in Europe. The outcome of this event was that Hitler failed to take over, so he moved on to the Soviet Union and tried to take that over.

Operation Barbarossa
On June 22, 1941, Germany attemped to take over the Soviet Union for their natural reasources like oil and other fossil fuels. Hitler sent 4.5 million troops into the Soviet Union to fight but they fail and the Soviet Union swiches sides from the axis to the allied powers.

Pearl Harbor
Japan Has just bombed one of the United States's major military/naval bases in Oaho, Hawaii. 2,400 died, 2 U.S. battle ships were sunk, and multiple planes and other ships were destroyed. Japan was upset that the U.S had stopped trading with them and that the U.S had froze their assets in U.S banks. As a result, the United States declares war on Japan and the United States officially enters WW2.

Operation Overlord
US leader, Dwight D. Eisenhower launches an invasion to take back France from Germany. This invasion took place on the beaches of Normandy. The Allied powers invaded because they wanted to save France and take them back from Germany so that they (Allies) could move on to Germany itself. As a result, the Allies take France back.

Yalta Conference
Throughout February 4-11, 1945 in Yalta, Russia, the U.S, Britain, and Russia had a meeting/conference. Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt were the leaders at the time and they were the ones who descussed what would happen to Germany after victory had been achieved by the Allies. After the conference they decided to split Germany up into four sections, and that is what happened.

Battle of Iwo Jima
Through Feb 19-March 26, the Allied powers were fighting with Japan. The Allies were trying to find a place to land/store their damaged planes and fighter jets. The outsome is that the Allies take Iwo Jima and use it as a base.

Bataan Death March
On April 9, Japan made 72,000 Filipino and American prisoners march 63 miles. They marched to the Bataan Peninsula in the Philipines. Japan wanted to punish the prisoners, because this was right after the attack on Perl Harbor. 7,000-10,000 men were killed or they dies while marching. V-E Day
As an outcome of the hard work and fighting of the Allied powers, they take over Germany and they surrender. The war and fighting is over in Europe. V-E Day stands for Victory-in-Europe. This occurance happened in Europe, but most of the world was celebrating.

Dropping of the Atomic Bomb
On August 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima and on August 11, 1945 we dropped another bomb on the city of Nagasaki. About 150,000 people were killed in total and many more thousands got radiation poisoning and eventually passed away. Along with the casualties, the two cities were obliterated/destroyed completely. After the bombing the United States helped to rebuild the cities.

V-J Day
All around the world, this was the day. The war in Japan was over because they had surrendered and many people were rejoycing the streets and at their houses. This day was the day that Japan decided that they didn't want to be bombed and destroyed anymore so they surrendered. V-J Day means Victory in Japan day.

Battle of the Bulge
This event was a suprise, Hitler launched a counter offensive invasion through the Allied forces. In northwest Europe, Hitler wanted to split the Allied forces so that he could have more power over them. He wanted to split them by means of a suprize thrust, making a repeat of what he had done previously. As you can imagine, Germany failed to do this.
