    Creation of the Supreme Court
    This was created under the Judiciary Act of 1789. In the Constitution, Article III Section 1, it says "the judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish." The president was then reserved right to annominate justices to the court with advise and conset rom the Senate.

    Maryland imposed tak to all banks working in Maryland not chartered for the state. McCollough issued bank notes without following the Maryland law. MAryland sued her, but she claimed it was unconstitutional. The case was later repealed.

    The Cherokee Nation fought against the state of Georgia against the laws they passed. They laws that Georgia passed deprived the Cherokee Nation of their rights within the boundaries. The court did not hear the case on its merits.

    Samuel A. Worcester and others went to the Supreme Court in Georgia for "residing within the limits of the Cherokee nation without a license" and without them "taking an oath to support and defend the constitution".

    Massachussetts court case was the consideration of the right to have existing labor unions. They were debating if the labor unions also had the right to strike. Some thought it was considered illegal conspiracy. They court ruled that unions were legal, and they did have to right to strike for a closed shop.

    This was a ruling that the US Supreme Court said African Americans that were borught into the US for slavery were not protected by the constitution, nor would they every be citizens. This decision had lasting cultural and historical effects on society.

    A inmate, Cory Maples, lost his chance to appeal his death sentence when mail marked with "Return-To-Sender" appeared in a firm's mailroom. The distict denied Maples request for a late repeal, then Maples took this case took this case to the Supreme Court.
