This act gives the Protection Board to gain full custody over any Aboriginal child if a court found that they were being neglected. -

The last of the states to enact its own board. -
Aborigines Protection Amending Act (NSW)
This new law enable the protection board to take away any Aboringinal child that they felt was being neglected without court order. -
NSW Aborigines Protection Board
The New South Wales Protection Board loses its power to remove Aboriginal children. -
Abolishment
All Protection Boards lose their power to remove children from their parents and all boards are abolished by the end of the year. -
Going Home Conference
The Going Home Conference is held at Darwin to talk with the children of the stolen generation, and look for ways of compensation. -
Bringing Them Home Report
The Bringing Them Home Report is created, it is a book which contains first hand stories of the child from the stolen generation. -
Sorry Day
In 1998 Sorry Day is established on the 26th May to remember the hardship the Aboriginal community faced. -
Apology to the stolen generation
On the 13th February 2008 Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology on behalf of Parliament to the stolen generations.
