Also known as the Seven Years War, was fought between the British and French. British won resulting in the spread of the English language throught North America. -
Proclamation of 1763
To avoid more conflict with the Native Americans, the British issued the Proclamation of 1763 which banned all trading West of the Appalachains. Was not enforced very well, resulting in colonists crossing the line. -
Sugar Act
Parliament enacted a law called the Sugar Act in hopes reduce smuggling in North America -
The Stamp Act
A law in which Paliament established the first direct taxation of goods and services within the British colonies in North America. -
Townshend Acts
Laws made by Parliament which established indirect taxes on goods imported from Britain -
Boston Massacre
A clash between British soldiers and Boston colonists, five colonists were killed. -
Boston Tea Party
When 18,000 pounds of tea was dumped into the Boston Harbor by the British to protest the tea act. -
The Battles of Lexington and Concord
The first shots starting the revolution were fired at Lexington, Massachusetts. British soldiers were sent to Concord to destroy weapons and ammo stored. -
Intolerable Acts
A series of laws enacted by Parliament to punish MA colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
