    Hitler signs a secret treaty authorizing the founding of Reich Luftwaffe as the third German military service to join the army, and navy. It grew rapidly, and eventually defeated Britain.This event led to WWII because it was so powerful and was scaring other countries.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    Anschluss is a union created in 1938 that includes Germany, and Austria. This formation happened due to the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of WWI. Anschluss was somewhat successful because they helped eachother fight throughout WWII.
  • Munich Conference

    Munich Conference
    This was a conferece where Britain and France agrred to Hitler's demands, known as appeasement. They felt that if they gave him what he wanted that it'd avoid war. The countries didn't follow the appeasement, and Germany then invaded them. This led to WWII because there were fights going on, and Hitler had too much power.
  • Czechoslovakia

    Czechoslovakia
    Due to Hitler's demands, Czechoslovakia was told to give up the Sudetenland or fight Germany on its own. It failed, and Germany sent troops into Czechoslovakia and divided the country. This event upset Czechoslovakians, which led to WWII.

    Hitler believed that the city of Danzig belonged to Germany instead of Poland due to the percentage of German's living there. On March 31, 1939 Britain announced that if Poland went to war to defend their territory, that Britain and France would come to its aid. This event led to WWII because there would be more power in Poland than Germany was thinking, so it'd be harder to take over.

    Nazi-Soviet Pact
    The Nazi-Soviet pact was known as Germany proposing a treaty to the USSR, asking them to help invade Poland. They agreed that there would be no aggression between them and that they would split Poland between eachother. This led to WWII because it made Germany more strong, and made it harder for Britain, France, and Poland to fight.

    Poland, Britain, France
    On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland. Britain and France said they'd be its aid, so two days later they declared war on Germany. This caused World War II because it was getting very violent and Germany was trying to take over Poland's territory.

    Blitzkreig is referred to the "lightening war," a new type of warfare that the Germans used. It used a lot of tanks, and aircrafts. This event led to WWII because other countries couldn't keep up and Germany was just too powerful.
  • Poland fell

    Poland fell
    The Germans new warfare was too powerful and Poland couldn't repel the attack. The capital of Poland got taken over by Germany, and by October Germany had defeated the Polish military. This event led to WWII because Germany was growing and taking over other peoples' land.
  • Phony War or Bore War

    Phony War or Bore War
    While Poland was being invaded by Germany, western Europe remained very quiet. The British referred to this as the "Bore War" and the Americans referred to "Phony War." Both countries were just sitting there and waiting for Germany to attack. This event didn't do much to change things during the war.
  • How and when did Hitler get around the Maginot Line?

    Hitler decided that in order to get around the Maginot Line they would have to invade the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg first, and they did. After that the Germans marched right around the Maginot Line and attacked the British and French. This made WWII even more violent because Germany was so powerful and the Maginot Line failed.
  • Evacuation at Dunkirk

    Germany had gotten around the Maginot Line and were now attacking France and Britain. They decided to evacuate their surviving troops by sea, with only one port that wasn't captured by Germany. Hitler could've destroyed Dunkrik but he decided not to and no one knows why. Over 338,000 troops had been saved. This event helped France and Britain grow stronger and save more troops.
  • French Surrender

    Three weeks after the evacuation occured, France surrendered and Hitler accepted it. Germany gained even more territory. This changed things throughout WWII because every battle Germany is just growing larger and more powerful.
  • Battle of Britain

    Even though France surrendered, Britain refused to and so Germany invaded them. In the end Germany took over Britain, and was overpowering every country. This made WWII for every country besides Germany horrifying.
