Stalin's Russia Timeline

  • Stalin caught smallpox

    Around the age of 7, Stalin caught small pox leaving him with permanent scars that later contributed to his "tough" and "serious" exterior.
  • School

    In August of 1894, Stalin attended school to become a priest.
  • The Communist Manifesto

    In around 1895, Stalin began secretly reading The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and that was the start of his strong opinions.
  • Expulsion

    In 1889, due to missing his exams, Stalin was expelled from the school that he was attending to become a priest but he claimed that it was for his discoveries.
  • First Marriage

    In 1909, Stalin married his first wife , "Kato", who was a seamstress. They had one child together who later died as a prisoner during World War 2.
  • Lenin in Exile

    In 1912, Stalin got his first taste of power when Lenin appointed Stalin when he was in exile.
  • Second Marragie

    In 1918, Stalin married his second wife, the daughter of a Russian revolutionary, Nadya. She later died in he 30s.
  • Soviet Union

    In 1922, the Soviet Union was founded however Lenin was the first leader. During this time, Stalin was moving up the party ladder.
  • Secretary General

    In 1922, Stalin became general of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.
  • Stalin's Power

    After Lenin died in 1924, Stalin officially had power and was officially become the dictator of the Soviet Union.
