St Kilda play in a drawn Grand Final with Collingwood. With the score Collingwood 9.14 (68) to St Kilda 10.8 (68). A crowd of 100,016 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. St Kilda player Lenny Hayes won the Norm Smith medal for best player on the field in the drawn game. The following week St Kilda lost by 56 points in the Grand Final replay.
