Tita was born..
When Tita was in her mothers vomb and their would be onions being chopped you could her her whaling loud because she was so sensitive.
"Tita was so sensitive to onions, any time that they were being chopped, they say she would just cry and cry; when she was in my gre-grandmother's belly her sobs were so loud that even Nacha, the cook, who was half-deaf, could hear them easily."pg. 5 -
Rosaura and Pedro's wedding
Rosaura is the older daughter so therefore she doesn't have to tend to her mother until the day she is laid to rest. Unlike Tita she is retrained from her loved you to hand over to her older sister Rosaura to take care of Mama Elena.
"I am sure I will be, since through this marriage I have gained what I really wanted: the chance to be near you, the woman I really love. . ." Page 38 -
Gertrudis Runs away
Gertrudis runs away on a horse with her new lover after eating tons of quail in rose petal sauce. The scent of the roses brought her lover over hills after leaving the battlefield to pick her up and take her away. "The movement of the horse combined the movement of their bodies as they made love for the first time, at a gallop and with a great deal of difficulty." pg. 56 -
Pedros, Rosauras, and Robertos big move to Texas.
Since Rosaura couldn't feed Roberto due to not producing milk. Tita fed him everyday. Until Mama Elena suspected that pedro and Tita were talking more than they needed to while they were alone. So Mama Elena sent them off to Texas. Which crushed Tita the bond they built was something you couldn't just up and take away from her in one day. . "She couldn't let it happen. They couldn't take the child away from her now. SHe had to keep that from ever happening." Pg. 81 -
Roberto was born.
After the marriage of Pedro and Rosaura was going good. They descided to experience love and have a baby. Well complications came through and Mama Elena and Pedro missed the birth of baby Robert. But not Tita, she actuallydelivered him. " Her sisters flesh opened to make way for life. Tita would never forget that sound, or the way her nephew's head had emerged,triumphant in his struggle for life." pg. 72 -
Tita and Pedros love affair.
As Tita was making her way to the bathrrom one night she ran into her lover Pedro. After sneaking into the bathroom together they explore each others bodies and kiss until Mama Elena started to cry out for Tita. :Tita timidly touched the hard muscles on Pdero's arms and chest; lower down, she felt a red-hot coal that throbbed through his clothes." Pg. 98 -
Titas emotions grow towards Dr. John Brown
After trying to get over Pedro, Tita meets the local doctor, Dr. Brown, he has watched Tita over te years and claims to say that she has grown into a lovely young lady. As the time goes by that they spend together Tita starts to experience love with another man. ""Could that someone be John? She was rembering the pleasant sensation that ran through her body when he took her hand in the laboratory." Pg. 118 -
Tita returns to the ranch to care for Mama Elena.
As much as TIta hated the fact of her going back to the ranch to be around her mother again mad her really upset. She did not wanna leave John to go back. But she did to take care of her since she was sick. "It was a good thing she hadn't said anything, because Tita returned to the ranch after hearing about the calamity, Chencha's pious lie whould have been shattered by Tita's splendid beauty and radiant energy." Page 129 -
Mama Elena passes away.
Mama Elena never ate or drink really. She always thought Tita was going to poison her so that she could marry. So Mama Elena took Ipecac and within weeks she died. "Sometimes these measures alone sufficed, but occasionally she felt sharp pains in her belly, and then she took, in addition, a swig of ipecac and another of squill onion as a purgative. That did not last long. Mama Elena died within ammonth, wracked by horrible pains accompained by spasms and violent convulsions." Page 136 -
Pedro's second baby. Esperanza
Tita refuses to do anything for Esperanza just because she does not want to get hurt like she did with losing Roberto. Rosaura and Pedro also return to the ranch. "The death of her mother affected Rosaura so deeply that it brought on the birth of her daughter and made nursing the child an impossiblity." Pg.146 -
Pedro and Tita experience love for the first time
After waiting all the days compassionate about each other they finally experience love for the first time due to Pedro stepping in and taking action. "Without answering, Pedro went to her, extinguished the lamp, pulled her to a brass bed that had once belonged to her sister Gertudis, and throwing himself upon her, caused her to lose her virginityand learn of true love." Pg. 158 -
Mama Elenas first ghost appearance
As Rosaura and Tita are talking about helping each other. Tita looks over and sees Mama Elenas ghost. "And she could put her finger on just when it started, since she remembered perfectly. It was the night the ghost of MAma ELena first appeared." Pg. 170 -
Tita questions herself about being pregnant.
Since Tita had been late on her period after losing her virginity she thought she was pregnant by Pedro. So as hes married to her sister she was worried and needed to run it by Pedro. "Pedro, I need to talk to you alone." Pg.175 -
Gertrudis returns to the ranch with troops
When Gertrudis returns home she acts like everything is peachy and poays no attention to the past with the family difficulties. She si also now a general in the revolution. "When they got close enough, she could see that the person in charge of that troop was none other than her sister Gertrudis." Page 177 -
Tita is not pregnant..
Tita has her period finally!!!!! Which kind of disappoints Pedro for her not being prenant. "This discharge, so many days late, relieved all her pains. She gave a deep oeaceful sigh. She wasn't pregnant." Page 200 -
Tita calls off her relationship with John to decide who she wants to be with.
Tita is going through a depression with not knowing who to be with. So she calls off her engagement with John to giver her more time to think about her future. "'John,I think we'd better call it off.' 'But why?' ' Don't make me tell you know." Page 222 -
Pedro dies.
As experiencing love through marriage Pedro reaches a high climax and dies right before Titas eyes. "She tried to still her breathing, and only thier hearts beating fiercly. She could feel Pedro's heart pounding against her chest. Suddenly the pounding ceased. A mortal silence spread through the room. It took her but a moment to realize that Pedro was dead." Pg. 223 -
Tita dies.
After feeling terrible. Tita wants to experience the love that she had just felt with Pedro repeatedly, so therefore she ate all of her loved ones candles to keep her feeling the warm sensation that Pedro brought her. "She began to eat the candles out of the box one y one. As she chewed each candle she pressed her eyes shut and tried to reproduce the most moving memories of her and Pedro." Pg. 245
