    The case is about a child name Diana that attend a school in Central California. She was having academic difficulty in classes. Diana was a Spanish specking child that scored low on an IQ test and placed in a class for mildly mentally retarded students. The courts ruled that Spanish speaking children should be retested in their language to not have a problem in placement.

  • Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children (PARC) V . Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (1971)

    The case was about children with or without intellectual disability could gain from any type of free training or education. PARC sued the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a state law that let public schools for withholding education from certain children especially children who was a mental age of 5 years. PARC express that children can profit from a program of education and training and with out education it leads to negative consequences for the development of the children.

  • Larry P. V. Riles

    The case was brought to court on behalf of Larry P. and other African American students against the San Francisco Unified School District. The claim was a IQ test used was being used incorrectly to determine students class placement and the IQ test was unfair toward African American students. The students had been wrongly or placed in classes for the mentally retarded. The case set a precedent for using information that was not appropriate placement of students and discrimination.

  • Conclusion

    Looking out for the needs of each student is one of the hardest things to do in education, some students need more help the others, an each student learns in a individual way. Various systems have been devised to help students who have difficulty,like placing them in their own specialized class with all students. The methods of deciding how and when students should be placed in all three of the cases.
