    • Prohibited discrimination by employers on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or nationality.
    • Supported laws and efforts for equal rights
    • Helped provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities

    • Provided federal funding for education
    • Helped close the achievement gap for disadvantaged students
