    The CEC was formed by a group of administrators at a summer session at Columbia University. The CEC added professional standards for working in the field of special education.   • Brown vs Board of Education

  • Mills v. Board of Education of the District of Columbia

    Another landmark case in United States history, Mills vs Board of Education, ruled that students with disabilities cannot be denied education because of the cost of accomodations to the district.   • Rehabilitation Act of 1973

    This act opened the doors for people with disabilities to enter the federal and federal contractor workforce.     The Supreme Court ruling held that unjustified segregation of people with disabilities is discrimination and against the ADA. That public enitites must provide community based services.
