    In 1680, the Indians at Santa Fe in northern New Mexico revolted against the Spainsh, causing the settlers there to flee and take refuge in the El Paso area. With the Spanish, some friendly Indian tribes came, who settled along the Rio Grande. The mission on Corpus Christi took place there.
