The Letter was written by Enrique Dupuy de Lôme, the Spanish Ambassador to the United States. The letter, which included unfavorable ideas about hte Americans, was published in an America newspaper, and created more agression of Americans towards the Spanish. -
Sinking of the USS Maine
The USS Maine was sent to Cuba to protect American Intestes in the Spanish territory of Cuba. After arriving, the ship mysteriously exploded. Americans blamed Spain, ultimaely starting the Spanish-American War. -

The battle was a decisive victory of America, destroyed the Spanish fleet, and allowed America of be recognized as a world power almost instantly after their overwhelming victory. -
Battle of San Juan Hill
This battle was another decisive victory fo American troops. Roosevelt gained mush of his fame from this battle, and it is considered the bloodiest battle of the war. -
Treaty of Paris
The treaty formally ended the Spanish-American war, and gave America, officially, an overseas empire. America gained the territories of Puerto Rico, Guam and the Phillipenes.
